How did you determine what you were passionate about?
I allowed God to make my talents, gifts and knowledge collide. I've always been on a stage in some way, whether it was speaking, performing in musicals or ministering. Then, as the Creative Marketing Director of Oasis Family Life Church, my passion for pushing the kingdom through creative streams exposed me to a growing knowledge of Social Media. In January of 2016, I released all of my experiences to God and he revealed this brand in a way that not only fit my dreams, but my lifestyle as a wife and mom.
What challenges have you overcome to pursue your dreams?
My biggest challenge has been balancing my career and family! I'm extremely passionate about spending time with my husband and daughter, so finding a way to not only include them on what I was doing but to be intentional about my passion for them was difficult UNTIL I recognized the difference between an Entrepreneur and what I like to call a Mom-Preneur very quickly! While an entrepreneur may be single, without children and have the ability to be completely focused on their business, Mom-Prenuers are sometimes married, and a mom! Walking boldly into the role of a Mom-Preneur gave me a completely different "set of eyes" into my world, and a greater respect for embracing my family as a part of my dreams.
How do you stay focused and productive in your area of passion? I broke up with balance and married priorities. The world paints this perfect picture of being able to balance life , 30% husband, 30% kids 40% other stuff and at the end of the week we're upset or disappointed because we didn't balance life perfectly. My husband, baby girl and career are all of my passions, so I had to adopt a way to make them all a priority in their set times. By breaking up with balance and prioritizing my schedule I created time blocks in my weekly schedule to be intentional about my business and career, intentional about spending quality, fun-learning time with my little girl and intentional intimate time with my husband. By doing this I took the stress of "perfect balance" off of myself and as a result, every area of my life has found its purpose in its own season and each are flourishing in a way that brings me the most important feeling of all; peace.
