How did you determine your passion?
I have always followed my dreams from the time I was younger. I would practice singing in the mirror like every other kid, or giving my thank you speech at an award show amongst a huge crowd at an award show. I've always known I was called to do what it is in doing, but I can & will be transparent & say it hasn't always been easy! There were times I felt like giving up, there were times when I should have maybe slowed down & some areas but because I was faithful & believed inmyself, I allowed nothing or no one to stop me. Some of the things I went through on this journey would have killed some people. There are things that my own parents do not know, some night I didn't know where I would lay my head to rest, or didn't know where or what I would be eating there were times my vehicle was took from me & took my license. Or times I didn't know how I would pay my rent. There was one time when my license was token the night I was being honored at a televised award show, but because I want success just that bad I showed up anyhow & did what I was called to do. Determination & passion separate the good from the greats but it's all about how bad do you want it.
What challenges have you had to overcome?
The biggest challenge that I've had to overcome would be getting over the fear of what I felt like what people though of me, or would say! I was afraid of "being great" growing up w/ a Christian background I was afraid of being judged. I was afraid of shaming my parents & pastors by not finishing school & getting my psychology degree. I was afraid of being & doing what I knew my passion was, which was entertainment. My biggest obstacle in this process was to learn that no matter what, people will talk about you while you're dead or alive so you may as well & do what you've been called to do.
How do you stay focused?
I keep myself level headed & focused because I have no choice butto win. I'm leaving a legacy behind to my 5yr old son Aiden. I want him to say wow, my daddy gave it everything he had. He concurred so much to be great. I tell people all the time, I don't have a plan B, because my plan A will work. & when someone doesn't want to give you a opportunity, create your own & be great!
What is your advice to other dreamers?
If you're afraid to step out on your dreams then you aren't ready. You have to have such a bold confidence when it comes to your dream, especially if your "dream" is attached to entrepreneurship then youhave no room to be afraid because your lively hood is riding on this. You have to be ready, you have to believe in yourself, you have to surround yourself with positive, smarted, wise & like minded people, you must be prepared to fail but yet ready to bounce right back up at the same time! If you're afraid to try, then you'll never know how great of a person you can be or high your business, craft or dream can take you.
