McArthur Cator Jr. is the Author- of “Again: Faith to start over” and soon to be released “Path- Walker”. In writing it’s his intent to inspire people to be all that God has designed them to be through the word of God and transparency of my own struggles. Cato is also the Leading Pastor of Pathway Chapel. The church exist to reach people in a relevant way, to reach those who are far from God, teaching everyone that they can Encounter God, Learn His Ways, and Walk The Path of a purpose based life.
How did you determine what you were passionate about?
I came to determine the things that I was passionate about through being frustrated. I am an avid reader, however, I never seemed to find a book where the author was transparent or honest about why they believed what they believed about God, so I decided to write that book. As a Minister, I served and preached at various churches, but never really felt what I experienced there was what God had placed on my heart, so I set out to create the place that I saw in my dreams.
What challenges have you overcome to pursue your dreams?
In writing, it’s the process of actually forcing myself to sit down and write out the thoughts of each book; turning off the television or saying no to being out and about and spending the hours…sometimes days looking at a notebook or computer screen. In Pastoring and Church planting, its reminding myself that God builds His church, and increases as He sees fit. And trying to not take it personal when people walk away, don’t work for the vision, or when ministry is not supported.
How do you stay focused and productive in your area of passion?
“Everything we want in life is along our assigned path”… there is a road that we must travel for God. And once we are obedient, everything we desire can be found along that path as we move to be ambassadors for Christ. So, in the tuff moments, I focus on the fact that- I know its God leading me. So when I encounter set backs and frustrations, I now that if God said it, then its upon Him to accomplish it in His time. I just rest in the fact that I know what he said to do and the things he has shown me…and trust God to keep His word.
