How did you determine what you were passionate about?
I had a dream years ago that help me determined what I was passionate about. In this dream I was teaching a class filled with children. There was one child in particular, who was really struggling. He just wasn't getting any of the steps or interacting with his classmates. At the end of this class I ask him, "What's wrong?" "Why weren't you participating?" "Were the steps too hard for you?" "You can talk to me about anything" He answered, "I'm scared, I don't look like them. I don't look like you, I don't feel pretty, they were making fun of me, I look ugly!" Hearing this broke my heart and just like that, the little boy disappeared. I woke from my dream wanting to know who was that little boy or what did this dream mean? Was it a lost childhood memory of mine? Could this be a reflections or foreshadowing of my own self-esteem issues? I just didn't know what to think of this dream. Yet, every since that dream I had years ago, I made it my duty to make sure that I never neglect the people around me who need my help. I want to make sure that the people around me feel and look beautiful inside and out.
What challenges have you overcome to pursue your dreams?
Fear. That's my biggest challenge. The fear of not knowing what will happen next and the what if's that come along with that feeling. Not being in control of the unforeseen circumstances ahead. I've been told by so many people, "Believe in yourself!" "Stop thinking so negative!" "Don't be silly." "Why would you think that way?" "You can do it!" "Don't you believe that God will make it happen for you?" It's easy said than done! The feeling of fear can consume your thoughts, and cripple a person's abilities. The feeling of fear is always in the back of my head. Then I remind myself about that dream I had, and I remember what it is I need to do. Then the fear and the doubt goes away. Let's be clear, I don't want anyone to think that these thoughts disappear instantly. It has taken me a very long time to overcome those thoughts. Overcoming my challenges has taken me some deep reflection, but I'm glad to say I've found my way of overcoming the feeling of fear.
How do you stay focused and productive in your area of passion?
A simple picture, a picture of me when I was a little boy. That picture reminds me of what made happy the most and that was dance. That image keeps me focused and productive because I want that feeling to last for a lifetime, not just for me but for anyone who may struggle with self-image, self-esteem, and their confidence level. I want to let everyone know who battles with these problems that I'm here to guide them to their fullest potential. My passion is and forever will be, making people feeling and look beautiful inside and out through dance and fitness.
